The 2021 IHF World Men’s Handball Championship will be the 27th event hosted by the International Handball Federation to be held in Egypt from 13 to 31 January 2021. This will be the first Handball Championship with 32 teams instead of 24. This will be the third championship hosted in Africa and second in Egypt.

Cairo Stadium Sports Hall
Cairo Stadium Indoor Hall is the most famed hall in Egypt, thanks to its location within the premises of Egyptian historic sports’ pylon as well as its high capacity of 17,000 supporters.
The main hall of Cairo International Stadium was founded in 1991, It received an efficiency upgrade in 2015, worth EGP 133 million, as part of Egypt’s successful national effort to win the right to host the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship.
Cairo Stadium Indoor Hall is the home of Handball Pharaohs. Cairo International Airport is only 10 km away and the venue is 30 km from downtown, putting it at the heart of the city’s infrastructure network of roads, hotels, dining destinations and medical facilities.
Cairo Stadium’s hall has hosted previous handball tournaments: the 1999 Men’s World Championship, as well as the 1993 and 2009 Men’s Junior World Championships. The venue has also hosted the African Men’s Handball Championship finals five times.
New Capital Sports Hall, Cairo
The New Capital Sports Hall is part of Egypt’s newest sport facilities, built specially to host Egypt 2021, the 27th Men’s Handball World Championship.
With a capacity of 7,500, the hall is located inside the integrated Sports City in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo. The Sports City was built at a cost of 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds. It is home to a halls’ complex, a swimming complex, and several multi-purpose courts and fields.
The New Capital Sports Hall is 60 km from downtown Cairo, and 60 km from the stunning Red Sea beaches at Ain El Sokhna. The short drive to the sea is made easier thanks to an extensive network of new roads and transportation systems.
Borg Al Arab Sports Hall, Alexandria
The Borg El Arab Sports Hall is a 5,000-spectator capacity hall that was built specifically as part of Egypt’s successful bid to host the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship.
The hall is the younger sibling of Borg El Arab Stadium, one of the largest in Africa, which has been a frequent host of numerous Egyptian, African, and international football competitions since it was founded in 2007.
The stadium also holds a fond place and sentimental memory in many Egyptians’ hearts, as it was the site where Egypt clinched its historic qualification for the 2018 World Cup.
The Borg El Arab Hall is less than 35 km from downtown Alexandria, Egypt’s second largest city and a jewel of the Mediterranean. The hall is 200 km from downtown Cairo.
6th of October Sports Hall, Giza
Completed in 2020, the 6th of October Giza Sports Hall is the newest hall designated to host Egypt 2021, the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship
The hall is located in the heart of 6th of October City, one of Cairo’s lovely suburbs that have blossomed in the desert in recent years. The city is full of all the amenities needed to give teams and fans an amazing experience.
The hall can host up to 5,200 spectators, and boasts a VIP lounge, a training hall, and a fully equipped spa for teams.
The hall is only 36 km away from downtown Cairo, and is part of the historic Giza Governorate, home to the famed Great Pyramids of Giza.
